Covid-19 Alert!
What Riverdale Activity Centre is Doing (Please Read Carefully)
The WHO has declared an official pandemic for the Novel Coronavirus. We at Riverdale Activity Centre have taken immediate precautionary measures to control the spread of the disease in our community with the following action steps. Parents, Staff, and Students MUST follow the action steps listed below. We as a community need to come together to prevent the spread of the disease and protect our community.
General precautions to prevent spread include:
-
Anyone with the most minor cold who has returned from outside of Canada in the last 14 days MUST stay at home. You need to self - isolate and contact public health who will direct you on whether you or your children need to be tested. Regardless of travel, we expect that you self-incubate for 2 WEEKS before coming in contact with our Facility if anyone in your family is showing any minor symptoms. This is to keep all of us at Riverdale Activity Centre as healthy as possible.
-
The incubation period is 2 weeks. If you’ve traveled, you should self-monitor for 2 weeks. Everyone MUST consider canceling any non-essential travel (for many reasons including risk of getting sick in another country, risk of quarantine while away and being delayed getting back into Canada, risk of bringing Covid home and contributing to community spread, etc).
-
March break is a hugely risky time given the amount of international (especially the US) travel. The US is the highest risk place to travel right now (other than the obvious hot spots - China, Iran, South Korea, Italy) and is an unrecognized hotspot. They have had severe limitations in their ability to test. They are beyond the containment stage and may soon find themselves in a situation similar to Italy. Most of Canada's recent Covid cases have come from travel to the US.
-
We STRICTLY ask parents to keep kids who have traveled outside of Canada over March break to stay home and away from Riverdale Activity Centre for 2 weeks upon their return and monitor for any cold symptoms. If you or your child develop cold symptoms, please stay home and call public health.
-
Frequent hand washing or sanitizing
-
Avoiding touching your face, nose, and eyes
-
Maintaining a “social” distance of about 6 feet from others wherever possible
-
Consideration should also be given to avoiding crowded areas such as theaters, conferences, or busy restaurants/bars.
-
We STRONGLY advise to clean and disinfect high-traffic surfaces on a regular basis, using appropriate precautions.

Emergency Public School Closure - Covid 19
March 14 through to April 5, 2020
Riverdale Activity Centre is closed during this time.
Kindly reach us via email/call
Please be healthy and safe, practice social distancing.
Based on advice from Dr. David Williams, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health and the experts at the COVID-19 Command Table, the Minister of Education has issued a Ministerial Order to close all publicly funded schools in Ontario for two weeks following March break, in response to the emergence in Ontario of COVID-19. This order was approved by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
This means that Ontario schools have been ordered to remain closed from March 14 through to April 5, 2020.
Riverdale Activity Centre will remain open for Families looking to receive care for their children. However, in light of the situation and the quarantine efforts put forth by Public Health, we will not be able to offer care for families returning from any travel in the last month and has NO SYMPTOMS! Thank You for your understanding.
Please Note:
We are currently following Public Health Safety Guidelines and following Social Distancing.
Riverdale Activity Centre will not be operational during this time.
